A Prayer Before Reading the Bible

Our Father, who art in heaven, 
sacred is Your Word. 
Your kingdom come, 
Your Words be heard on earth as they are in heaven. 
Give us today Your Sacred Word. 
Forgive our neglect of it in the past 
as we forgive those who neglect us. 
Lead us toward an encounter with You 
each time we delve into the Scriptures. 
For Your presence, Your power, 
and Your glory 
are ever present among us 
now and forever.

O Mary, Mother of Mercy,
watch over all people,
that the Cross of Christ
may not be emptied of its power,
that man may not stray from the path of the good
or become blind to sin,
but may put his hope ever more
fully in God who is "rich in mercy" [Eph 2:4].
May he carry out the good works
prepared by God beforehand [cf. Eph 2:10]
and so live completely
"for the praise of his glory" [Eph 1:12].

A Prayer For Salvation

Precious Blood and Word of God,
You are my eternal salvation.
Lost in sin, You liberated me.
You lifted me from perdition.
Treasuring my feeble soul,
You excused my constant frailties.
Forever, I am indebted to You.
Your cost can never be repaid,
For You bought my freedom with Blood.
I will always seek You out my Lord,
You are my beloved Deliverer!
You are the Lamb of God!

THE PRAYER: DEDICATION OF A FAMILY TO MARY

Most Blessed Virgin Mary, 
Immaculate Queen and Mother, 
the refuge and consolation of all troubled souls! 
I kneel here before thee with my family 
and choose thee for my Lady, Mother, 
and Advocate with God. 

I dedicate myself and all who belong to me to thy service forever. 
I beg thee, O Mother of God, 
to receive us into the company of thy servants. 
Take us under thy protection. 
Help us in life and at the hour of our death. 

Mother of Mercy, 
I name thee Lady and Queen of my family and relatives, 
my interests and all my undertakings. 
Take charge of them; 
dispose of everything as it pleases thee. 

Bless me and all my family. 
Never let any of us offend thy Son. 
In every temptation defend us; 
protect us in every danger; 
provide for us in the necessities of life; 
counsel us in doubt; 
comfort us in every sorrow, 
in every sickness, 
and especially in the final sorrow of death. 

Never let the powers of Hell boast 
that they have enslaved any of those who here consecrate themselves to thee. 
Grant that we may all enter into Heaven to thank thee and, 
in thy company, 
to praise and love Jesus our Redeemer for all eternity.

Act of Divine Presence

My God, I firmly believe that Thou art everywhere present and seest all things.

Thou seest my nothingness, my inconstancy, my sinfulness.

Thou seest me in all my actions; Thou seest me in this my meditation.

I bow down before Thee, and worship Thy Divine majesty with my whole being.

Cleanse my heart from all vain, wicked, and distracting thoughts.

Enlighten my understanding, and inflame my will, that I may pray with reverence, attention and devotion.

Act of Charity

O Most Sweet Saviour, Jesus Christ, how great was Thy love, which drew Thee from the bosom of the Fatherto this vale of tears, to take our flesh and endure infinite miseries and wrongs, yea, even the death of the Cross, and that only for us miserable sinners and for our salvation.

O how great was Thy love!

Thou mightest have condemned us, and Thou didst rather choose to save us:

we were guilty, and Thou, the sinless One, didst endure our punishment to set us free.

Out of love it was that Thou camest down to take our flesh; and when about to depart from this world to the Father, Thou didst leave to us this Sacrament as a pledge of Thy love, that after a new and wondrous manner Thou mightest abide with us for ever; Thou whose delights are to be with the children of men.

O Lord how worthy art Thou of Love, who dost so much for love of us!

Wherefore I will love Thee, O Lord, my Strength, my Refuge, and my Deliverer.

O God, Thou art true Love!

He that dwelleth in love dwelleth in Thee.

I desire to receive Thee in this Sacrament, that I may be more firmly united with Thee in the bond of love.

Who shall separate me from the love of Christ my Saviour?
O that neither life, nor death, nor any creature may have power to do so.

Prayer Of Abandonment

Father, I abandon myself into Your hands;
Do with me whatever You will.
Whatever You may do, I thank You.
I am ready for all, I accept all.
Let only Your will be done in me,
And in all Your creatures.
I wish no more than this, O Lord.
Into Your hands I commend my spirit;
I offer it to You, Lord,
and so need to give myself,
to surrender myself into Your hands,
Without reserve and with boundless confidence,
For You are my Father.
